Sir Derec de Knook is rather famous in his own right, he's a bit cocky also, though it's more in his demeanor than any actual words spoken. He's on his horse, his name having been called for the joust, and he awaits his opponent. He's good, he knows he is good, and his bearing shows a comfortable stance with his lance in hand. Ready for the match, his boots ready to spur on his horse at the go.

Failed.
Iwan checked his tourney of 2, he rolled 10.

Feeling better for this round of the competition, Sir Iwan has a fresh dance for luck. Of course, he pulls a famous knight. Sir Derec de Knook. A little late, he passes the marshals, and is called to wait to assure it is him for the moment and his equipment is ready. Then he is off to his end of the tilt. A breath in, catching it as if realizing now he was running behind. Then a nod, keeping his lips tight, towards Sir Derec. Ready as well, he sees the man ready to spur, and he does the same. Setting his horse in motion, determination on his face to pass this round and continue in the tourney.

And so the announcement comes, the signal to begin. Derec rides hard towards the other end, the lance he carries, blunted, and pointing towards the other man, the younger knight. He rides hard, barely glances off the other mans shield while taking a hit himself, but he does manage to stay strong on his saddle, turning at the end of the pass to be ready to ride again.

Iwan feels good, with that set determination to his shoulders. He feels good with that hit, but has to wait for the turn to look back. Not disappointment on his face, but a cross set to his jaw. Needing another round. He's sure the other man is better and each pass means odds are against him. Iwan sits steady though and waits until both are turned to face and the marshals clear them for another tilt. Then he spurs his horse and leans forward, focused on the end of the line, in his mind he rides through Sir Derec.

If he could flip his hair he would, the poncy knight of Knook is a bit vain. With the go ahead given for the second pass, he rides for the other end, his lance aimed once again. And yet again his skills fail him, his performance worse than he had expected against one so young and inexperienced. He's determined, yes he is, and he turns again, riding.

The tight lips curl up, Iwan feels his lance connect, smug himself a moment. Two solid hits, and no push against him either time. His shield easily pushing the tip of Sir Derec's lance aside. Again at the turn, he looks back with that hint of disappointment at still having to go. But renewed interest in the match. He was holding his own at least. He had to keep going. That dance recalled, he nods and sets in for the next pass.

Critical Success!

Apparently Derec should have danced with a certain Chalke lady before his match. He's not faring so well and his fans are noticing it. Three passes and he had lost each one? At least he was putting on quite a show with his horsemanship! He does some fancy something or other, holding on, turning and hoisting his lance. "For all my lady fans!" he shouts, a smattering of applause erupts with some swoons from a few of the ladies. Then again, he rides.

Again a hit, Iwan is certain he even hears some applause. At least he isn't prideful, he doesn't lift a hand expecting he had one. Again on the turn, proof of why that was a good idea. Seeing Derec waving to lady fans and them applauding him for some antic on the field. A grunt, he was the one getting the hits. Then again, one one is famous, they do tend to steal the show. He waits the moment for the applause to settle down and the swooning to stop. Then he spurs his horse and charges again at Sir Derec.

Of course he has one! Out in the stands there is an Isyld and only after the lady fans of Derec calm down does she say anything. First a whistle, then an, "I Love You Iwan!" is shouted out, unmistakable in the silence, though.. it was unexpected, and Isyld ducks a little bit in the stand, not having expected it to be so completely silent when she shouted it out.

Derec hears it, he looks around but sees nothing, it only makes him want to try harder. A female who wasn't his fan? Heaven forbid! He rides, he manages to get another hit and remain in his saddle, but now people are noticing. It's been four passes so far.. and the famous wasn't getting the hits?

Success
Iwan checked his chaste of 13, he rolled 9.

Not expecting to hear that, the applause died down, when the voice comes it catches Iwan. He looks up, half a grin, then a big blush. He waves with his shield hand, the arm lifted enough to waggle fingers. Now Derec was taking the joust seriously too at least. A cough then a dead look to his eyes, he has to win now. Isyld is out there. Grim determination on his face, Iwan launches himself down the line again, set on unseating Sir Derec.

Isyld does watch, she watches him, the wave, and she smiles. He had heard her, she was sure of it. Maybe that was hint enough from yesterday and speaking to her father. She remains there though, not interrupting anymore, but watching for sure and silently cheering him on.

Derec growls with frustration as pass five goes by and again he's hit and has to try and remain in his saddle. This was making him look so bad! So bad! He takes a deep breath to steady himself, waves again for his fans, but there's only a smattering of applause this time which discourages him, and he rides for his foe.

There is a hint of jitters to Iwan, lasting this long against someone so famous. A slight tinge of red at his cheeks as he comes to the turn to look. Sure Sir Derec is still horsed. Not going to give up though. He looks again towards Isyld, a nod given to her, confirmation, the feelings mutual even. Then he wants to not look bad, she is watching. He focuses on the joust at hand, turning to meet Sir Derec again. A lean in and
pat to the neck of his horse, words of encouragement offered. Then he is off, tearing at the ground beneath him by the hooves of his mount.

Aha! Derec does manage to at least make a partial showing this time, he rides, makes a good amount of contact too, only.. he gets hit in the process, at the same time. Both stay mounted. Frustrated, he turns again, his face red, his horse a little weary of the back and forth nonsense. He snorts, paws the ground, rolls his eyes. Derec gets him reined in and rides once more.

Both brush past each other, making contact and remaining horsed. Iwan is expecting when he hits to see Sir Derec when he turns about. Its not suprise again. He simply steadies himself and his horse, finding a calm spot. That is the spot where Isyld watches. He is in that spot, he could lose, and the spot remains. Thus he is comfortable now on this pass, this moment, this match with Sir Derec.

Derec is gaining confidence and this time he makes a strike, hitting his opponent, perhaps knocking him a little looser on his saddle? He is taking it as a good sign at least and he lifts his lance to celebrate early.. until he notices that Iwan is still in his saddle. Grr. He positions his lance again before riding off towards him.

Iwan is hit this time and does what he can to hold on. A good hit, the saddle and his hands on the reigns keeps him in his seat. Turning though, and still mounted, this is a good match at least. The struggle continues. Now its simply turning to see the other rider there, then spurring to meet him. A drive to end this round of eliminations one way or the other.

Once more Derec finds himself with the upper hand and he has already lost track of how many passes the two of them had. He does hold his lance, facing the other knight as he prepares for another pass. This one was it (hopefully) there would be some resolution here, one way or the other, if he could help it.

Taking a hit, again Iwan is the one to hold on again. Even though he's seated, there is a sign of sweat trickling down from beneath the chain coif he wears. Hefting his lance carefully, he wipes at that sweat. Turning to set again, he lowers the tip then rushes forward to cross lances yet again with Sir Derec.

Derec has made so many passes he was getting as tired as his horse. He does ride again, towards his opponent, and he does take another hit. He rides hard, once more.. was there no end in sight?

For the now, it seemed, no end in site. Iwan was matching lances, getting solid hits in, but the expert was far better trained on staying in the saddle. He turns again to face Sir Derec.

Back and forth and back and forth, Derec de Knook with his poncy, famous reputation wasn't holding it so well. It is a long and drawn out matchup, the continued successes by each keeping them both on their horses, lances out. Again, he turns to face his opponent, then rides on.

Failed.
Iwan checked his awareness of 12, he rolled 14.

Iwan is good with drawn out, like a game of strategy, it was more time to plan his tilt, plot his course. Not that he could see it wearing at his opponent, he was just content to still be going in this match. Turning again, he waits a moment for the marshals to clear them to ride and so he does.

So it continues. Derec is good, he knows he's better than this, but it's been something like eight or nine passes, he has lost track. It wasn't a good showing on his part and he would call it if he wouldn't lose even more face in giving up. And so once more, he gets to the end, turns, and rides for his opponent.

This at least made Iwan look good, standing so long against a famous knight. Each new round that much better for him. A grin at his face at least. A slow turn this time, he adjusts his straps to loosen them a little bit. He sets his lance to his shoulder to remove the weight for the moment and take a breath. Then again, he turns to face the competition. No wait, once cleared to tilt, he spurs and is off again at Sir Derec.

Derec rides once more, he is determined to get the win, his horse was even protesting the matchup. His lance finds the other man's shield, but the lance of Iwan finds his shoulder and forces him physically off his horse and he falls to the ground, shamed, losing, embarrassed.. a failure in front of all of his wonderful women fans. He gets to his feet and stomps off towards the tents.

A collective sigh from some of the ladies, one in particular, Isyld, as she watches Iwan successfully unseat the famous knight. She can't hold back, she jumps up from her place in the stands and does a victory dance with a woop sound of triumph. He had won!

Watching from the prime position of the end, Siani doesn't cheer either one, she's about to meet her own famous knight on the list, and she's gaining more and more confidence as she watches it play out before the other young knight. She waits her turn though, and when it comes, she will ride for her opponent.

Iwan was certain he would still be seated, thus when he turns, he is surprised at first. His lance raises a little, but he checks himself for the moment before he is too discourteous and turns to salute judges, beyond the lists then Sir Derec. He calls over, "Well met Sir." Face kept in check, the smile held in a tight jaw. He turns to look at the dance from Isyld, that breaks the tightness of jaw and he smiles then. After thta, he moves off to take off his armor as this round is done and he's onto the next.
A tall strong man comes to stand against the large knight that is Sir Siani. At least comparable in size this man. It is Sir Gareth de Nether Wallop, famous in his own right. Famous but serious, no words said as he comes to the opposite end of the tilt to meet with Sir Siani. Due course followed, he knows his etiquette, but even when checking in or saluting anyone, his eyes stay set on her.

Isyld notices the look from Iwan and with a half smile, she starts leaving the stands now that the new match had started and she begins the trek to his tent, content to offer him another dance for good luck for his next match. It seemed to have worked for this one!

Siani rides for the famous knight, lance out, she manages to make contact with him but not enough to knock him down, or so she believes at least. She rides to the end of the list where she turns, lance out, to see her opponent well and truly astride his horse still. She doesn't give up though, simply aims her lance and prods her horse to ride towards the knight again, for the second pass.

Sir Gareth is confident, he knew he woud hit. Now his is suprised, his lance shatters completely. A rare thing indeed. When the older knight comes around to face Sir Siani again, he half smiles to her, appreciating that she is at least competition for him. "However shall win, I look forward to seeing what comes of you young woman." No sir, no knight, individual to individual its beyond knights in his mind.

At the turn, Siani hears him, tilting her head a little even though she's not at her most energetic today she tries to look alert as she regards him. A half smile equal to his curves her lips, though it looks a bit lazy on her part, or could be misconstrued as cocky. "Oh, I shall do my best to win, you're quite famous and it would be a boon for me at least." Not her finest moment for sure. Still, she tilts her head forward in an acknowledging nod. "Good luck to you." She spurs her horse forward, lance out, towards the knight.

Once again she is better at the lance, he takes the hit. His shield absorbing or deflecting the tip enough that its little contest, other than two solid strokes against each other. A grin comes to his face. "Ah, there is spirit in you Sir." At the turn, knowing full well both are up, from his years of experience at this. Then facing her. "More the reason to prove myself with you. You'll have your days soon enough young one." Then he readies his lance again and charges.

Siani was prepared again, this time she does make another hit but like before it's not hard enough to do anything but make a bit of a showing. She turns at the end, facing the more famous knight. "I look forward to them, Sir." She counters, but she does offer a look of respect, after all he was famous for a reason! She readies her lance once more and rides to meet his charge.

At least this round he manages a better strike against her. But he doesn't gloat. "I'll count that as luck, you've shown your skill Sir." A grin of respect just the same. Unlike the former, he will not show boat, he's not doing this for fans, he's doing it to keep his lance skill sharp. Going turning his horse about to line up again. He makes ready for another pass. "If I shall lose, it is at least to a worthy foe."

Oop, he made the contact more firmly this time than Siani had managed and she does her best to remain in the saddle. The momentum was great, but her will was greater, with this pass at least. It was proving to be just as interesting as the match before it when Iwan had met Sir Derec de Knook. Still, she doesn't try and offer conversation to the knight this time, instead a nod is offered, refusing to be distracted by the idle chatter.

Sir Gareth this turn makes contact again and the solid woman doesn't seem to budge. He rides it out and turns to give a half cocked nod of his head to her. Glad she's still there, to keep this going. No words for the now, his focus on the joust at hand. With a pause until she is ready, he scootches and thursts legs at the flank for speed this round. His lance falls slowly until its aimed at his mark this pass.

The famous knight was proving why he was famous at least! Siani was determined though and despite her opponents need for conversation she has ceased all attempts at it. Her concentration was solely on aiming her lance to knock her opponent off. It wasn't working as well as she had hoped though and she after taking the hit, she manages to remain in has saddle yet again. At the end, she turns, and she rides for him once more.

This time he is set and ready with speed, but the tip of his lance founds a solid shoulder pushing back. There is no budge from her, his shoulder loosens to keep his arm from disloacting at least. Sir Gareth comes to an end and rotates his lance in his hand for a better grip this go around. There again, he settles in and waits for the ready and tears down the tilt towards Sir Siani once again.

Siani completely misses Sir Gareth with her lance but she does manage to take a light hit that mostly takes to her shield. She turns at the end, an almost incredulous look on her face that she was actually still on her horse. She positions her lance again, riding towards the knight, teeth clenched as she focuses all of her energy there.

The more veteran lancer perhaps, he is used to matches taking longer, specialy the further one goes in the eliminations. He lands a solid hit again, but she yet remains a solid statue atop her horse. The beast must be big to carry her, but alas he is big as well, his horse manages just the same. A look to the marshalls, seeing that all is being observed, then to the ground and he readies for another pass with Sir Siani.

Siani is no little woman, she carries herself well enough, as does her horse carry her, but she is not small in any way. Nor is she that pretty.. if at all. The looks she had come to terms with long before, and they affected the joust none, but once more, she takes a hit and again, she manages to remain on her horse. Solid, she is. A quick salute of her lance towards the other knight, an indication she admired his handiwork, but she tucks her lance against herself and rides hard for the other man.

He comes around again, his lance finds her and no budge. A grunt from him can be heard as they pass due to the strength of her in return to his push with the lance. Once to his end, he looks quietly a moment, hints of a smile there, admiration returned. Nothing beat a good match. The pomp of the tourney not to his liking, he was in the thick of it now. Even specators beyond the lists forgotten as they two continue to exchange. Lance lowered again as he rushes to meet here.

Yeahh, Siani can't help but smile in response, she's gaining confidence even while taking hits. It was her first tournament, her second round and she was enjoying herself. Her lance is aimed as she turns about, watching her opponent, not really hearing the crowds for the moment. There's a moment she meets his eyes and the smile there is congratulatory. No, she wasn't giving up, but she wasn't exactly expecting to win either. She rides for him.

Another strong hit against Siani, she moves this time at least. A chink in the armor, he can overcome. And the longer this goes, the more he needs to rely on his energy. He takes half a moment to loosen a strap at his shield, just to buy them both a moment of respite, a glance given to her to share that tidbit. Adjust, prepare again, take the breaks that are given. He gives her a moment to take as well until both are ready again, then he lowers the lance to ride at her.

Again, Siani rides, again she takes a hit and she takes it like a man. Or something. Still, she falters in the saddle, but she does manage to hang on! When he turns to face her again, and she him, a rueful look plays over her features. A breather? Until the marshal announces for them to carry on. So she does, she rides for the knight but only after ensuring he was ready for the hit. Or miss. Whatever the case may be.

Its good for him, Sir Gareth relishes this moment. A stand off, no one the clear victor. His mind in a flow state, once the hooves beat beneath him, its extended time as he counters the up and down of the horse to keep the tip square at the center of his opponent. She stands again and he rides to the turn to face her, then he is in that stat again.

Siani could take a beating, apparently. Her horsemanship skills were definitely being tested while those of her lance were found to be lacking. It doesn't discourage her any, she continues to ride off towards her opponent despite the mutual good humor of the two.

He finds her gain, at least more movement from her when his lance finds her. Sir Gareth can only think its his years of training showing, he'll simply have to outlast her on this field today. A moment pause again, he reassures his horse a moment, leaning over but saying nothing. Simply his breath enough to show he's there with the horse in this ordeal as this round carries on.

So many passes, like the turn before her, and Siani was intent on her own match. Still, the people in the stands were doing their best to remain interested in the very long match. Merchants selling foodstuffs were doing a good business as the time passes. People were hungry! Siani does at least manage to make contact and test her opponents skills, but he proves why he is a famous knight after all.

That was a solid blow, Gareth is aware enough that had he not had his shield over the tip, he would of felt that one come the morning. Or been bruised now even. A good solid hit from Sir Siani. Turning to face again, he says, "Well aimed, Sir. A challenge indeed." Then he scooches back just a little on his saddle, his own seat growing tired for the now.

The confidence is gaining, Siani rides for her opponent, making contact, managing to avoid much more than a glancing hit to her shield for two passes now. Then at the end, she turns to look back and she does noticing him there on his horse still. She laughs, "Thank you, Sir. A good challenge indeed." She doesn't back down, she doesn't wait or pause, she just rides for him again.

She hits him, hits him good. That will cut, leave a mark. Something to remember the tourney by even. He rolls easily with his landing though. Shield dropped. The man gets up and ignores saluting anyone else but to turn to the woman. "An honor to meet you on the field today Sir Siani." Yes, he knew who he was against, remembered her name. A grin showing lightly on his face. Then he follows protocol before turning to leave the field.

Siani rides for him, her lance aimed for just above his shield, her horse manage to find purchase in the churned up ground and ride harder, and her shield in position. The hit, when it comes, is hard, and as she rides past him towards the end, she's already turning in the saddle to get a look at the knight. He was down. Hurriedly she turns and rides back even with him as he gets to his feet. "It was a good challenge, well done, Sir." She offers to him, following the words with a salute. "A pleasure meeting you, Sir Gareth. I look forward to crossing lances in the future." Only once she was assured he was fine does she look to the marshals, awaiting the call. Once it comes, she heads for her tent.

Success
Brynmor makes a check for Sir Fychan de Stokesay, the Famous Knight's Lance at 18, he rolled 7.
Critical Success!
Morwenna checked her lance of 15, she rolled 15.
Morwenna rolls 12d6 and gets (5 1 5 4 6 2 4 2 2 4 6 6) for a total of: (47)

Morwenna's following opponent is well-known, receiving cheers from the crowd and swoons from a lady or two, but the spirited horsewoman is undeterred. Rather, giving a sharp warcry as she gallops down the list, she unhorses the famous knight with a single well-placed blow of the lance, leaving the man dazed in the dirt, and probably confused about what just happened!
