A large castle in Powys. After recrouping with Norgales, the knights of Cameliard and Salisbury have pushed King Belinans back. He has retreated to to this castle, further up the Severn River, down a southern fork in the hills of Cambria. This castle has two curtain walls, an inner ward and a middle ward. A few knights are here to defend amongst a smattering of hill men. Some of the irish knights from the east remain as well.

The seige has carried on, the troops of Logres and their allies waiting while the gatehouse was battered and defended against attacks from the two towers defending the gate itself.

The seige has carried on, knights and soldiers on foot ready to storm the red keep when the gate is taken. The knights with armor and shield are to the front for the first part, as entering the inner ward will make combatants susecptable to any fire from the curtain walls and the outer towards. Once the second gatehouse is broken, the middle ward should be safer while they work into the castle.

It comes that its afternoon when the outergate cracks and is pulled down. The first groups in are under Sir Edryd. They encounter veteran knighst and push them back, giving room for the salisbury groups to come in behind them. The courtyard is a mess, and is mixed with some knights, and some warriors. The hillsmen and irish have javelins, bows and spears mostly it seems, a few with swords. But the former more prevailant. (Battle Leaders roll battle check, modified by Sir Edryd's roll coming, then 1d20 to see who they encounter first, no circumstance modifiers for the 1st round).

The initial attack is as expected; though Idris apparently fails to lead his unit to anything worth fighting at present — Edryd's leadership doesn't help matters any. As he charges with his lance at a group of javelineers he has seen harrassing the front lines, he takes a javelin to the shoulder for his troubles. Hissing, he slams the heft of the lance to break it before he straightens his weapon in order to sink it into his foe's chest. He leaves it there, drawing his sword and wheeling about to fight whatever other enemies must be worth taking the field for. "BELINANS! YOUR DOOM HAS COME!" He shouts.

A pity that Ailil isn't up to his usual good form in combat, at least in the first sortie. He rides his brutish warhorse, an ugly monster, through the wall of charging knights a few down from Idris. His lance rests in the crook of his arm and he urges the horse to speed, riding after the opponents making a nuisance of themselves with javelins. He bears down with the lance, but so much for that, and the point misses his opponent by a hair, but at least he manages to slap away a javelin hurled at him off his shield. The man makes not a sound, no war cry until the very end, when he raises his voice in a howl.

Mari has her sword already drawn so it's nothing to bring it up and swing it towards the man she is closest to, and that's exactly what she does. Her blade finds purchase but without a lot of strength behind it,the damage is minimal. She's not giving up though.

Sir Niclas de Horton leads a group in, fresh from garrison during the Battle of Severn Valley, he's rather fresh. As the gates are about to crash, he says to his group, "We win today, we can go home. Let us end this for Salisbury … for Logres!" Then he raises his sword and when its his groups turn he rushes in and turns to the north section of the yard, near the walls to avoid archers and the like. They encounter a group of swordsmen from the irish group. He swings heavy handed before his man can really raise his shield, dropping the man where he stands.

Lainn wasn't particular eager to get back into combat. He was in the midst of harvesting wheat in Laverstock, when he was called to fight. So here he is, marching through with the rest of the Sarum, in that quiet moment before the clashing of metal starts. And the eldest Laverstock knight picks out his target, another knight. Metal clash, the moment is quick and sudden, and instantly over. Lainn's blade just about cleaves the man in two in a diagonal cut, shredding chainmail and burying his sword in the man's shoulder, which eventually cuts so deep it ventures into the chest area. The other man was dead before he knew what hit him, Lainn withdrawing his sword and moving on. Maybe he was imagining it was his brother.

He wasn't even supposed to be here today. So he's grumpy.

Ready for the battle, Martyn swings for the nearest enemy, sending the man to the ground with his hit. He turns around to look for the next enemy now, ready for what might come.

While Sir Idris of Bodenham turns in on a group of javelineers, his group drives into them, but suffers losses, perhaps by archers atop the walls. SIr Niclas' group drives hard into some Irish swordsmen and gives them cause to faulter where the stand, avoiding heavy causlities for the moment. Sir Edryd leads his group in a hard push for the second gatehouse and manages to take the field to there. The majority of troops lost in the moment seem to be hillmen from Powys and the irish conscripted units from the realms to the west of Cambria.

As the battle sets out underway in the inner ward of the Red Castle, the inner gate is assaulted and starts to splinter already. A slight edging in the direction by the combined Logris forces and allies. Sir Edryd has turned to take on more in this bailey, calling for others to be ready should the next gate fall.

Mari remains engaged in the fight though she's not too particular about who she fights, just that she fights someone from the other side. Surging from the first part of the battle, Niclas presses on against more of the irish swordsmen. Driving his group in, he calls out, "Be ready, to charge the gate! We'll take King Belinans ourselves!" Then he's in the thick of fighting again. This man bring it to him this time. He thought the other too easy most likely and this man is the better with the sword for now. If not for his shield, Niclas might be hurting, but the shield seems to take most of the blows from the man as he stands and fights.

Doing his best to cut a swath through the opposing forces, Lainn takes his next target with a dispassioned stare, bring his sword down on the next knight. The other knight gets shield up, but the blow from the Laverstock is strong enough to push the defensive item way, and cutting down into flesh, which takes the man off his feet and onto the ground. Remaining upright, Lainn doesn't seem to take a lot of joy in the matter, but he'll try to finish the prone knight off in a moment.

Sir Idris moves his group after the heavy losses from the start of the battle, and turns to find some knights of Powys. Worthy foes in his eyes compared to men with javlins. Moving there he sustains less losses, doing for better this round and nearing the inner gatehouse. The knights pull back a little from his surge. Niclas continues at the swordsmen, trying to gain ground but they return this round and his units numbers decline.

At that moment, of course, the inner gate cracks and splinters. Sir Edryd holds it until it collapse, then yells. "To the hall, we have the middle ward!" He drives in with his knights, making a hole to follow into the final courtyard before said Great Hall.

It's not a good day for Ailil, though he pulls out his simple, rather serviceable sword. He starts hacking his way through the front line, as much as he can, wading into battle with his kite shield on his arm to intercept the clash of blades. His sword flashes violently against his foes as he hacks his way through, but no one is there entirely to be covered in blood. Instead he gets another soldier unprepared for the silent fury of the man, having a bad day to chase after good. He clashes with one of them, and his hard swing collides with another long sword, and he sends the poor man's blade flying off into the void by a chopped thrust of his own. Well, unarmed is better than hopeless.

"SHIELD WALL!" Idris is not stupid, and he sees what an elite knight detachment looks like. He raises his shield in addition to his followers, and though this move actually helps others substantially, he is caught with a quick jab to his ribs. Blood is drawn from him, leaking through chain, but the Bodenham is resolute in their advance. "ONWARDS!"

The shout is an unnecessary thing when they plunge into the breach. The Broughton knight wades away from one disarmed foe scrambling after his sword into the void he left, just in time to face God only knows what kind of trouble. "Shield!" The rolling shout carries down the line, echoing in response as he lifts up the teardrop metal barrier to add to the wall, deflecting a blow on his left arm. The clamour and clash make it very difficult to see around or through, but a Powys knight at least faces the possibility of a bad day. He punches the sword through a hole for another blade prodding at him, smacking it aside, then jabbing his shield arm forward to connect with something else. One seamless course of energy keeps him moving, on and forwards to hold his spot. No knight getting through this moment. "Godspeed, Salisbury!"

When the opening is there, Niclas turns to the knights with him, "There's are hole, to the King!" Belinans, he wants to be the first unit there if he can. They rush in to find hillmen with spears waiting for them. They engage and Niclas is locked in combat with a spearman. Both make no ground, shields raised enough that they exchange blows for a long time while the battle rages on about them.

The shout is an unnecessary thing when they plunge into the breach. The Broughton knight wades away from one disarmed foe scrambling after his sword into the void he left, just in time to face God only knows what kind of trouble. "Shield!" Locked in combat with this current knight, who's just in the midst of getting back up, Lainn doesn't really give him a chance to enjoy being on his feet again, because his sword screams forward, stabbing the other man horribly. But he still looking like he wants a fight, so Lainn will oblidge him, ready to make another blow. But the fight is looking more and more in his favor at the moment. Still, he does not get lazy. No, not here, not right now.

Mari continues fighting her hardest, swinging her sword and fighting her way through, determined to help Niclas and Lainn. If it was the king they were after, it was the king they would get.

As they are in the middle ward, Sir Niclas looks around and notices its only himself, Sir Mari and Sir Lainn. Breathing for the moment, its been an hour and a half of fighting so far, he pauses, raises his sword. "Knights of Salisbury, Cameliard … to me. For Norgales, for Logres. As one, to Edryd and the King!" He looks around and calls more for the knights of the groups fighting against the Rebellion. Holding his sword at the ready, he prepares himself mentally that this may not go well. But then Niclas is calling men to their aid and thankfully, some knights actually do show up. The battle on the front line of things is finally starting to turn into a fracas around Ailil. He is barely able to pay attention to more than what's directly in front of him and to his sides. His shout having roared to the heavens draws some odd inspiration, at least for him. Maybe the knights and soldiers of Powys dread God, or they have reason to start throwing down their weapons and dropping in submission. He can only stare when yet another spearman hurls aside his weapon for the second time, and this poor fellow ends up filleted by an apt, sharp thrust that runs through the soldier's shoulder. His blade finally having struck flesh instead of chain or a shield, he is at least scoring a mild victory for himself while the others are in more troubled states. "What is wrong with you?" he shouts at the fallen, scrambling twit at his feet. He kicks the sword aside, advancing. "Cowards, submit to Arthur's justice instead of fleeing!"

The middle courtyard is embroiled in conflict, the inner ward too has seen destruction. Now the final units are finishing their and moving to the middle bailey as the knights of Logres, Cameliard and Norgales push for the great hall. Sir Idris suffers losses, his unit is down to himself along with Sirs Ailil and Martyn. Sir Niclas has rallied a unit that stands 17 strong for the moment and they turn towards the great hall too.

At this time, the doors open, the last knights of Powys come out to meet in conflict. Amongst their number is indeed King Belinans now, making a drive against the knights of Camelirrd as they come out. All leaders on the field of battle as the battle crests, ready to turn towards its end.

Inside the castle, Mari doesn't have time to look around or even loot or raid it, but that's in the back of her mind. Hey, new dresses? Rich things? Jewelry? You betcha! Later though, later.. for now, she's engaged with one, a scrawny little thing, but he's got a sword so that makes him dangerous. Her sword finds his, he parries and disarms her, her own falling to the ground as his sword grazes her. She curses at him because it pisses her off, and she hurries to get her sword and engage again!

Catching himself a bit, Martyn nods a little as he hears Idris speak. Moving forward again with the others, he grins. "Let's finish this, then."

Niclas has his group, he pushes on. Or attempts to, alas some poor knight of Powys, probably conscripted. A second cousin of some manor. He advances with his janky old sword, hand me down from the time of the Roman occupation. They engage in combat, Niclas can't gain a hold to strike a blow, "Give up now, you've no chance." Shouted, but the other man shows him one up, getting in a good strike. The better armor in Logres prevails and he takes no damage at least, grunting from the blow. He turns to the cursing nearby, grinning when he sees who it is.

Okay, so. Lainn was not expecting to be hit as hard as he did. Or he just took a shield to the face, getting thrown on his ass. Now that just /cheeses/ it, getting it up to his feet, he scowls at the poor looking knight across from him. "Oh, so that's how it's going to be you little twat. Fine, you want to play like that, let's play, shall we?" Renewing the grip on his blade, he goes after that man. Yeah, just want to cut his ass down.

Ailil sees the quarry he might want, but unfortunately neither of them are facing one another. He closes in towards Idris and unnecessarily points towards the king, his barely blooded sword an appalling indictment of him compared to the previous battle on the field. He falls in step and flings his shield out, aiming his sword. It is a full out run from here. He's not afraid to join that charge on Belinans and several other people apparently aren't either.

The battle rages on, nearing the end of the third hour of battle now. Niclas is engaged, but fights on, his unit suffers little loss and prevails. Belinans unit pushes against Sir Edryd's. The middle bailey is full of fighting men for the now.

Determined to do better this round, Niclas takes the moment to gauge his opponent. This pays off as he damages his man, "This field is ours!" He says to the man, turning to see that his knights are still standing. "Sir Mari!" He calls out, but can't get to her so much in the thick of battle. Hopefully his squire or hers attends to her in the moment. The crowd thickens with Belinans and Edryd fighting in these knots in the courtyard.

Cutting into his enemy with a loud roar, Idris surges forward, sprung forth by the motion that his desired enemy is all too close; too close, in fact. He parries the Irishman's blow and turns around, allowing his blade to dig deep into the foe's back before he rears it back in a half-pivot. "ONWARDS!" He commands, imperiously. Whether or not his friends will follow him, he is making straight for Belinans. "I TOLD YOU, BELINANS!"

The battle wears on, men and women drop, its not the endurant fighters still standing. Smaller groups as the Seige of Red Castle drives further into the afternoon. The sun threatening to go beyond the curtain walls of Red Caslte, already the shadows growing near the western walls of the castle. Still King Belinans stands defiant against the invaders of Powys. He'll stand until the end if he must, the moving of the table and the wedding between Arthur and Guenevere the last thing for him, he could take no more.

Seeing one of his own march to fight the king, Idris seethes quietly, taking note of Martyn for a moment before he rises his sword again. "TO ME!" He calls out, gathering an even more sizable number of knights around his person as he gets ready to take battle to the opponents.

Moving forward as quickly as he can as they spot the king, Martyn slashes at the man. "Today is the day you die," he offers, while trying to do as much damage as he can. Not really succeeding that well so far, though.

Niclas half hearted tries to rally knights, but he is more concerned about Mari in the moment. He moves closer to her to see that she's okay as his knights abandon him for the moment.

Martyn engages the king. Some fighting still continues, the rest of the units want to fight. The more of Powys that fall, the more likely he would be to surrender now that the battle is in the Red Castle itself. The shadows grow longer, half the courtyard is covered in a shadow as afternoon is pushing towards evening.

Yeah that is going to leave a mark, Mari takes a deep cut into her thigh and she falls to the floor, dropping her sword in the process. Nope, looks like she's got to deal with a wound instead of fight and so she pushes herself to a sitting position, looking for something to staunch the blood flow. Seeing the gaping wound though makes her a little woozy and light headed. It didn't even look like her leg! Pressing her hands to it, trying to close it together, she cries out in pain.. because despite the immediate numbness, touching it hurts like a bitch.

As the unit leaves him, Niclas goes to Sir Mari, "Up, to safety." He calls, hoping she is still well from the wound she took. Then he sees he struggling with the wound, he kneels down to grab for her, to lift her and move her, something. To get to aid, away from the battle for the moment.

After gathering his knights about him, the brother of Bran de Bodenham and son of Sir Elisedd the Fearless, Sir Idris, grins as he watches the fight between Belinans and the Baverstock. He takes the opportunity to bumrush the guard with his own army, while barking out, "Broughton! Take out his bodyguard!" His sword flashes in the stray beam of sunlight as it sinks into Belinans' side once the distance is closed. "Don't mind if I partake in the fight, Baverstock!"

Belinans is so close that a man can also taste it, but also so far. Ailil is relentless in the drive, following after the Bodenham knight pressing the advantage. His shield is scarred by swords and spear thrusts, his sword no Excalibur today, but he fights with an unfailing air of determination that will simply not surrender to weariness. He's trained his entire life for this moment, this moment almost within reach. "Bodenham, go!" He shouts in Idris' direction, bellowing as another knight steps into the fray and not one kitted out with armour from around the Battle of Caerlion. He sucks in his breath and sidesteps to give himself more room to maneuver, clamping his mouth shut and weaving his sword blade back and forth slightly to see for an opening. There's an iota of wariness, and a kernel of burning righteous rage under those pale, frozen blue eyes. When the knight launches the sortie, the Broughton bashes the shield up to meet his blade and feints with his own, but the man isn't stupid enough to open up a gap. Well, that might be pleasant, but not in the cards as yet. He pushes onwards towards the king and strikes again at the bodyguard, the intention to push the man physically away from his liege where he can't be a nuisance. "Damn Powys wasps, all buzz and no sting."

Lainn does not like taking charge of a situation, but right now Nichlas is nowhere to be seen, and someone has to deal with the incoming Irish spearmen. "Knights! Sheild-Wall!" he barks out in a command, to prepare for the incoming pointy sticks. "Let the rest of them deal with Belinans, we will hold the line! Hold the line!" And he too puts his sheild up.

Moving in once more, about the same time as Idris doing his own attack, Martyn's sword tries to cut into the king's shoulder, which it might be doing, but not as hard as he wanted. Offering a grin to Idris, he shakes his head. "The more, the merrier." Spoken quite lightly.

As the knights swarm to Belinans and group, those knights that are his officers and personal guard do fall. Some, not all. It seems the tides have turned. King Belinans, seeing this moment as it is, when Sir Idris and Sir Martyn have him surrounded, lowers his sword. "Yield," he says, looking at the two. The other knights are already giving up. There is no retreat from a seige, only surrender. No one to hunt down, no last bits of resistence.

Mari looks up helplessly to Niclas, hands covered in her own blood as she holds the wound closed, her expression pasty white. When he lifts her, she seems a little lighter than she might usually. (Har, har.. SIZ loss joke) She continues to hold the wound. "My sword," she says, since she had lost it.

Rude. That's what the Bodenham is. He seethes when he looks at Belinans and the coward has the gumption to yield. Idris seems about to strike the man dead, holding firmly onto his blade. "Belinans. At the risk of losing face before my brethren, at the risk of staining my knighthood with your blood, I must say this."

The sword isn't risen yet, but the impulse is there. "You stand guilty of taking up arms against the High King Pendragon. High Treason, if I'd ever seen one. So I will give you two choices here. You may kneel before the Knights of Arthur and swear never to take up arms against him, ever again, and resign your self-proclaimed kinghood in penitence, or you may be struck by my sword, as a knight of the realm and perish here, at this Castle, to be forgotten by history." The sword point is pointed to the man's throat. "Beg your mercy, or you will receive none."

The last bits of resistance include showing up too late. The Broughton can't help but grin, even in the spectre of such appalling losses on either side, and he points his sword at the bodyguard he was contending with. "Sword down. Now!" He backs up rather slowly to guard Idris' back from any sudden javelin tosses or angry minor knights ready to stake their names on glory defending their king. He holds up his kite shield at an angle, and closes in the pair beside the king. It's only a few steps, and the look in his eyes for Belinans is contemptuous and veiled in the sheen of wrath. "How much blood spilled for a table. The emblem of *unity* and you set good men against one another. You are no more than a pretender to a crown." The low, ringing tones of his voice clash on the stone. "An honest Powys farmer deserves the crown for staying true far more than you ever did."

As Belinans lowers his sword, Martyn moves to take hold of the man's arm so he can take the sword away from him. At the same time, he looks to Idris, while pulling the king's sword out of his hands and sepping back.

The king takes knees as there is the matter of a sword involved for the moment. He look up, to Sir Idris, then to Ailil. "What unity is this. We've neve asked Uther or the whelp Arthur to rule over us. Simply because we share the whole of this land doesn't mean we prefer subjugation." But that is the length of his muster. "I can swear never to take up arms again." Then again, he has probably sworn as much in the past. At this time, Sir Edryd is making his way over acorss the field. The Marshal of Cameliard, his king, Leodegrance the one who returned the table to Arthur. "He is surrendered. Let us not joke of the crown." He says, for others to hear. Then closer, he doesn't move to interfere in the moment with Sir Idris who may have some personal vendetta agains the king. There, he says more softly, "If we do worse, we could face a bigger rebellion. It would be cause for Cornwall to Caledonia to unite agains King Arthur once more." Still leaving the decision in Sir Idris' hands.

Lighter, certainly, Niclas works to pick up Mari as best he can. She is in armor, but he supports her to move her away. "We'll not leave this day without your sword, but lets be sure we leave with you. To the tents beyond the castle, let us have you looked at first." If he has any cloth to rip away, he'll at least do that much to help collect the blood from her wound, looking for any that may come to look after the wounded now that the ring of metal has stopped.

"Sir Idris." Lainn says, stepping up to Idris' side. "He has surrendered and you have made him show humility infront of all still standing here." he offers slowly. "Besides, the punishment is greater should man have to live with his shame rather than be put to a quick death. This way, he may have to live with his mistake. And the burden of that, is far greater a punishment than any death could give." For his part, his sword is sheathed for the moment.

"This unity is the hope and dream of all of Britain. You have gone against the hopes and dreams of your own small folk by acting in dissonance with the High King." Idris states, glancing to Edryd as he turns. "I should like to see this man answer before the High Court for his crimes, then, Sir Edryd. Far be it from me to be the cause of rebellion to Cornwall, though I ask that you send this message to your liege lord: Earl Robert and his Court stand ever-ready to defend their allies and fellow vassals of Arthur. I hand this man to your capable hands. Baverstock," he looks to Martyn, "keep the sword, as a memento. Good work." He nods once to Lainn's words, apparently losing some of the edge of his cruelty. "And another thing, Belinans: My name is Sir Idris de Bodenham. Remember it, as you are sent to Carlion."

"Suppose, good sirs, that he flaunts the King's justice again. What of it? How will those who have seen eviction from their lands and death at this man's forces be eased?" Ailil asks quietly, though well within hearing of others. "If this land is to see unity, its people need redress and recompense. They are forced to count their dead, their lost herds and revenues, and for what? His folly—a dispute that could rightly be addressed elsewhere, but instead he took to bleed his own land and its neighbours. A shame. A flower of a generation dead for your game, Belinans. I hope you are well and truly satisfied with your hands stained in blood, and when Judgment Day comes, pray you are not found wanting for your crimes this summer."

As an afterthought, Idris says, to his fellow knights, "Tell him your names before we depart."

The response is swift, "Sir Ailil de Broughton. The men of Powys are good, but you are a stain upon them and their lands."

Martyn lets out a breath as things seem to be resolved, nodding a little as he hears what's said. Looking to the sword he took from Belinans, he turns it slowly in his hands, then nods to the surrendered king. "Sir Martyn de Baverstock," he offers to the man, before he steps back.

"Sir Lainn de Laverstock." Lainn gruffly remarks. "And may the gods have mercy upon, for I doubt the rest of here, were we not bound by honor would." That said, he gives a support clasp on Idris' shoulder before stepping away.

As each gives his or her name to him, King Belinans looks at them, nodding, not saying much more. A grin with Edryd comments on further rebellion should anything happen to him. "I will gladly stand before Arthur again." He seems satisfied with the blood so far, would gladly take more it would seem. Now he is submitted.

Sir Edryd nods to Idris, "He will be brought before Arthtur in Carlion, Salsibury shall be remembered this day. We may well not have won for not the bravery of Salisbury. Thank you sirs for joining this cause. The rebellion stands ended." He'll clasp shoulders with Idris for the moment in thanks before ordering his men to secure the King and his officers.
