This is near the hills of Powys, south of Norgales, east of Camiliard. King Belinans has risen up against the others in the area with their support of King Arthur and the return of the round table. Young knights have been welcome to help, those seeking fame and glory. The Salisbury groups have joined with the forces of Cameliard, organized in their own unit and brought to Severn Valley, as the main body of Belinans and supporters from the Irish Realms to the west.

Its about 2 weeks travel either way for figuring out where this meets with your logs. So a month for travel and a week for campaigns to quell the rebellion in Cambria. This is taking place in the middle of summer, Mid August.

The night before had the group heading out the Cheshire Plains through Orofoise. Now the Severn Valley stretches out before the group. Coming from the low lands, one can look up to the valley where the river stems from to the west. The now rising sun in the east sheds a brilliant light over it as a low mist rises off the cool summer grasses there, now heated by that rising sun.

The Salisbury Knights move up on the left, archers have been grouped near the forest at the base of the hills, ready to give support.
The units of King Belinans are gathering to march down. Sir Edryd, the Marshall of Cameliard leads the forces now agains King Belinans. Morning light catches off lances, Sir Edryd maneuvers slightly south to get a northwesterly charge, to prevent glint from the sun from affecting his nights. King Belinans moves to meet, so that his knights to not have the sun in their eyes as well. Its not long until the units are aligned and ready for a charge. Silence a moment as a few birds call in the air, the men and women on the field ignore this. Then, each man leading his group lowers his visor and prepares for the charge.

Cariste has a healers tent set up along the landscape, somewhere near the battle, but not close enough that she herself would be wrapped up in it. The Lady of Durnford knew little of the fighting ways, but she has brought with her some healing equipment, salves, and crystals to lend aid with the wounded. She is not alone a few other healers also assist her .. where there is war, there are causalities..

Failed.
Ailil checked his Orate of 9, he rolled 15.

One of the archers, Cailin just had gotten a position at the castle in Wilton. As she remains perched on her horse, she watches the first charge through the masses as she aims her bow, preparing to do her own damage as she can to assist the knights. The arrows do little more than serve as an irritant, but perhaps she can help distract the enemy.

As representative of Salisbury's western front, Ailil may be the furthest from home. He wears the Broughton device on his shield and his dark tunic, though nothing saves him from the morose face and ugly patchwork of possibly Salisbury's ugliest charger. Big, brutish, and possibly bad tempered, the gelding stands among the Salisbury contingent. His tail swishes and the unfortunate squire required to assist Ailil holds back with the spare weapons, watching in awe and a little fear. The dark-haired knight breathes the whole atmosphere in, his anticipation a standalone in his distant expression under that squat helmet. He follows the lead of Sir Edryd, squinting against the dawn, and adjusting accordingly to stay out from the glare. The forest shields them only so far. His lance is handed up by Arzhel, and he tucks it up against his armoured side, giving himself a solid cradle for the weapon so he can control its direction and absorb the future blow. "Today will be a good day," he announces in a clear, resonant voice. Unfortunately, it's not really loud enough to travel far and whether anyone is inspired by a minor knight from the far eastern Salisbury plain is entirely in the ear of the audience. Oh well! Stirring oration is wishful. "The King's law is with us. We deliver justice this day. Honour to Salisbury!"

Under the group with Sir Ailil, Llwyd is all serious for once. No smile, not light in his eyes. Rather a determination to fight and fight well. His hand grips his lance tightly and he simply sits astride his horse, ready to charge. As Sir Edryd makes ready, Sir Llwyd turns to watch and listen to Sir Ailil. Taking his words to heart, he cries as well, "Salisbury!" Joining in with the deliver of justice, he lowers his tip a little, spurring at his horse only once Ailil makes ready for the charge, assuring he stays on line with the group.

So the man may not have the best oratory skills, but he can point his lance like an arrow into the heart of the enemy. Belinans' defiance sets a cold stone into the base of Ailil's belly and he sets his ugly gelding at the massed wall of men. Heels press the flanks to set the horse galloping, and the advance might look slow. Have dinner plate size hooves hitting the ground and you might not look very gainly either. Ailil rises and falls with the natural motion of the horse, part of the same formation of Salisbury knights, all and sundry, who go crashing forward. The narrow point of the lance aims for an unfortunate Cornish knight, and he approaches without even so much as a yell. In combat, the Broughton is strangely quiet. He only grunts when the lance nails the man's torso and momentum sends his opponent crashing. He can only hope for the luck of his fellows all around.

After the order to charge, Idris lifts his lance, the hooves of his horse pounding onto the ground as he charges forward. Unfortunately his foe is a moment too fast, too brutal, and the Bodenham knight barely manages to make the brunt of the blow get deflected before he is thrown off the horse, grunting as he falls with a loud impact. Taking in a deep breath, he tries to stand up and draw his sword that he might join battle again.

Cailin looses the arrow towards one of the knights from her vantage point with the other archers. The arrow strikes, doing only minor damage, but it's a start. Sliding another arrow into place, she prepares for another hit from where she is.

Cariste gets to work in her tent as people are brought in, one of a group of healers that provide aid to the knights on the field. She is there to tend Sir Llwyd when he is brought in.

Charging in, a set look in his eyes, Llwyd makes ready to put down some knight of Powys. Instead his lance glances off the others shield and the tip of the others lance splinters the rings of his chain as the tip rides into his chest. The tip splinters away as that knight drops lance, preparing for sword on sword versus the Salisbury Knight. The tip remains in the chest of Llwyd as he tumbles over to the ground, falling like a stuffed dummy. Only moving from the inertia of horse and fall alone. He is brought back his body only giving to those who carry him.

The units of Cameliard joined with knights from the realms of Arthur make a glorious charge up to the knights of Powys under King Belinans. Its a glorious charge, and yet in the end, the majority of the knights under Sir Edryd, Marshall of Cameliard, fall, a number never to get up again. The current numericl advantage now goes to King Belinan who is in the middle of this fray. Sir Edryd is still up and calling to rally for his knights, not giving up the field so easily. Lances was one matter, sword another issue and his confidence remains to win they day.

Amongst the knights of Salisbury is Bran de Bodenham, charging along with the rest of his fellows. Once the force begins to turn toward their enemies and charges, Bran gallops alongside them. Protected by his armor and his self-confidence (mostly the armor) he lowers the point of his lance and hones in on one of the hopefully equally skilled rebel knights. With grim determination, he aims his blow and strikes hard. The rebel is unhorsed, the force of the blow hitting him squarely and sending him toppling to the churned ground of the battlefield.

The advance of blood and toil does not slow Ailil up. He tosses his lance aside and pulls his sword, only to see the chaos in the front lines. All is not well when the Arthurian forces crumble into serious disarray. Belinan receives a withering look, his rampant lion banner somewhere out there to taunt them a second time. The plain, well-maintained blade comes to hand as he swivels around on his horse and urges the beast into a plunging stride, finding his voice in a hoarse roar tempered on the battlefields of Neustria and worse. "Are we going to let these stinking peasants and shepherds beat us?" Ooh, making fun of the meaning of Powys; same origins as peasant, you better believe it. "Salisbury! For Arthur!" He plunges forward and some poor knight probably of an age with him, or mildly less, takes a full on blow and the sword slides over armor, screeching metal giving way to blood. He doesn't slow, trying to keep some momentum with him, headed on a hectic path right towards the thick of it.

The galloping of his horse takes him along and Bran casts aside his shattered lance after unhorsing one of the enemy knights. Wheeling around, the Bodenham knight draws his sword and re-enters the fray with a kick to his steed's flank and a bellowing cry. The entirety of his focus is on the man he selects for his attention and he guides the charger forward to engage the other knight upon his horse. When the opportunity presents itself and the Almighty blesses the moment, Bran lands a hefty blow that gets past his foe's defenses and strikes him squarely in the chest. Chain mail can't entirely protect against the force of the Salisbury knight's blow and Welsh blood begins to flow.

After standing up, Idris unsheathes his blade with a loud metallic ring as he holds it up to the sky, then beyond. Defiant to the very end, he shouts, "FOR SIR LLWYD! WE WILL NOT LET A COMPATRIOT'S DEATH BE IN VAIN! Forwards!" Angrily, he smacks a few knights with his free hand on the back. "You're with me! Call others!" And onwards he trudges towards facing the enemy, now not alone, but with nine other men with him. "Attack!"

Cailin finds herself under attack and she immediately loses the bow and takes up her spear. It's all in vain though as she is knocked down from her horse and takes a large wound. She keeps her spear though! Somehow. Holding it so she can try and get to her feet while fighting…

Cariste tends to the wounded doing what she and the others at the tent are capable of doing. She tries not to mourn too deeply for Llewyd as the battle rages and she needs to be sure she can be of help to the others.

As the mists clear from the morning dew, the sun burns over the field, morning moving towards the afternoon. The sound of hooves that thundered in the charge is replaced by the ring of steel as sword meets sword. The sound of horses replaced by the grunts of people engaged in melee. The main body of Cameliard has few loses this turn where King Belinans sustains more. The knights of Powys still presently outnumber the knights of Cameliard. Sir Edryd tries to stay the field for now at least. No knights of Cameliard withdraw from the field as of yet despite heavy losses from the 1st Charge. Though its less a rally to press on and a reconsideration of the battle for now.

The situation seems to be getting more and more dire for Cameliard and friends. Bran manages to hold his own and fight his foe to a virtual stalemate as far as the end result is concerned. He parries and blocks and strikes, neither combatant doing much to the other until the Bodenham knight makes a mistake and overextends himself. Open to an attack, he is fortunately struck with a glancing blow that hits its target but does little damage to the armored Salisbury knight. Adjusting in his saddle, he recovers and focuses on bringing the attack to the Powys knights in his sights. For now…

The mercenary has murder in his eyes and apparently in his actions. Cailin was on the ground, helpless, when he comes at her with the sword, stabbing it into the Steeple Langford, twisting it, taking her life.

Ever stalwart, Idris points his sword at an enemy and rushes towards him, holding his sword aloft. When he comes close enough to the foe, he swings the sword against the adversary and manages to land an attack, though the battle rages and people start dying around the Bodenham. His enemy remains aloft, but the youngest son of Elisedd is not one to take things lying down: there is glory to be had.

With a gesture to his standard, Sir Edryd signals for a withdrawal from the field for now. Choosing between the risk of losing more lives as opposed to regrouping with new units to press harder against King Belinans, he chooses to withdraw for now. Even as he moves back, its a tactical withdrawal, they still turn to face against enemy that would run them down. And the mounted units do not simply move faster than those on foot. They simply seek to disengage for now, hopefully King Belinans regroups himself. Five of the men with Idris fall from their horse, 3 dead, 2 captured. Leaving him the option to join with the withdrawal.

Bran is not so blinded by the fog of war that he misses Sir Edryd's order of withdrawal. Disappointed, perhaps, he nonetheless joins the rest of the knights on horseback - or at least attempts to do so - so that he can avoid becoming separated from the main force. The tactical retreat allows him another chance to take a shot at an enemy. One of the Powys knights comes close enough to engage and Bran takes a swing at the man, catching him full and strong and sending him plunging unceremoniously from his saddle. That's one way to stop a foe from pursuing. Bran continues to keep up with the remaining allied forces, ready to strike at any harrying enemy.

It seems as though Idris is divinely inspired, or perhaps, his temper takes the best of him. He sees his companions die, one by one, and yet the army is retreating. No, this will not do for the Bodenham. Charging into the fray even as others shy away from it, he fights an opponent, clashing swords with them, though it appears that the battle he brings is not one to defeat the opponent, but rather to keep himself from dying. He raises his shield, takes the blow there, and swings his blade. Fighting on even as others run off the field. If there is a legacy he can bring his family, it's that.

Failed.
Idris checked his battle of 10, he rolled 15.

The withdrawal is successful. They are pulling to the back. With a few throngs of knights still in the midst, King Belinans rallies troops. A few go hunting, the majority stay on the field. To attend their wounded, round up enemies for capture. A throng still exists around Idris on the field with his men, currently they are three strong, including himself. But they stand defiant as the enemy closes around him.

Even as the knights of Powys sword any too weak to bring back, and round up the captured, Idris makes a stand and summons knights still able to him. The enemy turns to notice this group left on the field, moving towards them. Its two and a half hours into the battle, they is no rush to go for them, but ultimately, Idris is surrounded.

Fearlessly, Idris' blade, the one he took as a trophy in the battle where he earned his spurs, gleams under the sunlight as it strikes his opponent. The blade cuts into the man's shoulder as he shouts, defiantly, smashing his shield into the man's chest so that they might fall from their mount. He takes a hard turn, then, lifting the blade once again to gather his men about him. "And now we break through! For Logres!"

The knights make a stand, the enemy clears some room, not expecting fight left in the small knot that still stands. Though as they fight those around them, others on the battlefield turn to see them, including King Belinans himself, he turns with others to start making his way towards this resistant unit of knights.

It is responsibility, however, that has Idris call for a fighting retreat, so many moments after Edryd has. He sets his jaw, looks at the men around him, and shakes his head when two more fall to enemy spears or swords. He sees the King's entourage approaching, and his lips curve wickedly. "You Cornish bastards will learn the might of Idris de Bodenham soon enough! Belinans, your head is mine!" He calls out before turning and sweeping the knight attacking him to the side with the sword, then pointing his blade to the gap left by the enemy. "Retreat! We've shown them a lesson today, boys! Tomorrow, they lose their sovereign!"

Even as his men make to follow, some still engage with Sir Idris de Bodenham, King Belinans calls to his mean. "Let the cur flee, we've won the day. No need to gloat. Like any welp, they'll regroup and come back in greater numbers." He watches, marking the coat of arms of Idris as the man made a defiant stand then withdrew from the field. The forces of Powys along with Irish knights come to help instead turn to the field to tend wounded. Looting to be had, captives to be taken for ransom, and scouts to watch the withdrawal and return of Cameliard as well. A scratch to the scruffy beard of King Belinans by a dirty hand and he turns back to his own pavilion to receive reports of the units that were in battle today.
