Unit dissolves, joins other smaller groups.

Earl Robert's team continues to ride, having only lost 2 knights in the charge against the rallied knot of Cambrian knights. Decimating that unit to less than half its size, the team wheels and turns to join with Count Ioan against Duke Randall. While outnumbered by Duke Randall, the Count makes a valiant stand, reducing the Cheshire knights to half their size. Joined with the surge of Robert's group, which know includes the knights mustered by Sir Brynmor, Count Ioan's group has a surge for victory (+10 for the round).

Duke Pellivere and Duke Morvid are locked in their epic struggle. Now open to hit each other with swords outside of the numerous border squabbles between the two realms, they do not seek any other opponents but each other. The hatred remains over the majority of knights, but there is a bolstering of the group of Duke Pellivere as Sir Elrick brings a throng of knights into this fray which is now the main body of engaged knights as both still have more than half their original forces engaged in this conflict (No modifiers to the knights fighting with Team 3 this round).

Fallen knights have the same choices.

Remount (Horsemanship check). If this is the second round of failing, they are captured. If its the first round, they make a battle check to avoid be disqualifie by marshalls (it matters if they remain on the field at the end as regards the moment of ransom for captured knights and the purse for the winning team).

Once remounted, they are alone. Make a battle check. Success they may engage any unit they wish (vs Duke Randall or Duke Morvid). Critical Success they may check for special engagement (1-5 -3 disadvantage to weapon rolls for round, 6-10 nothing, 11-18 +3 advantage to weapons, 19 is a standard bearer, 20 is a unit commander with famous knight stats). Failure means they become engaged by whicher enemy they had been facing.

This is the final round of the melee, so that it may be concluded.

It seems that victory is at hand. Or at least it is, for team 1. Acwel follows the lead of Earl Robert, following along with the ensuring Ioan's charge is, at long last, successful despite the adversity of the former situation. With one hand steady on the reins and the other bearing a sword, he finds an opponent in the fray easily, getting ready to slice powerfully at the man.

Failed.
Acwel checked his sword of 15, he rolled 18.

Aeryn remains on team one, fighting it out. Inspired, she faces her average opponent with her sword drawn and lifted. Long since she'd lost track of where Perin is anywhere, but he was there somewhere, she was sure of it, watching the melee. Given an opening, she swings her sword, aiming for the chest.

SirKay rolls 4d6 and gets (5 6 5 6) for a total of: (22)

Success
Acwel checked his horsemanship of 12, he rolled 10.

As Robert's team joins with Count Ioan, the melee grows once more at the center as both teams drive for a victory in this melee. A young man colides with Sir Acwel, not waiting for the other but rapidly swining his sword, connecting but proving again that Acwel is firmly in his seat as they exchange swords in the middle of the field.

A knight comes upon Sir Aeryn, hoping for a quick when, perhaps thinking he is slightly larger, more adept at combat with more field expierenc. He raises his sword to strike her down, but she shows agility to land a quick blow with enough force to not only disrupt his attack but send him to the ground.

The forces of Duke Pellivere remain in the fight. Adrenaline pumping, fueled by love of his family as he fights in their name. The tall Idmiston knight Sir Bradwyn has so far laid every opponent he's faced in the melee low. Like a catapult toppling walls the twenty-one year old, though he no doubt looks older given he is six feet with a ragged scar across his face, lands his striking blue gaze on his next opponent, a young knight who might well be questioning getting the attention of the impassioned giant.

The boom of an arm swings and the blade is deflected away by the shield of his opponent, however as the young knight strikes Bradwyn's own shield the tough Bradwyn seems to have not even felt it.

Success
Brynmor checked his horsemanship of 15, he rolled 13.

This group seems to be more young than before. The one that arises from the fray to meet with Sir Bradwyn is no less old than most of his peers. Swinging Sword he quickly finds he can reach the knight of Salisbury but must work harder to take the man from his horse. He works in quick order to keep his shield up while working to land a blow. They engage for the now.

There are a few worthwhile foes left in the mix, one comes upon Catryn. The two exchange a volley of swords, metal rining out. More of the sound about Catryn as the man strikes at her, but her personal honor is in showing she will not be unhorsed again this melee. She remains firmly in the saddle.

Quillian keeps in the press with Robert's knights, His shield is brought to bear as he comes along Acwel's flank looking to keep an opponent from coming and doubling on the other Lorges knight. His blade swinging out with a shout.

Seraphina, the Ebony Knight, is still silent, those amber eyes narrowing as she slides her horse into the thick of the melee and turns to engage the closest Knight.

Who knows how long Brynmor has been laying there on the dirt after being ousted by some young punk! If there was no fear of being trampled, he very well /could/ have turned on his side for a much needed nap. Being valorous and leading your own charge was taxing on a person. So he stays down for just a moment longer, already feeling the sleepiness enter his mind. And all would have gone well if some guy's horse didn't try to step on his bucket helmet covered head! "I'm /down/ here!" He calls out as he leaps to his feet to avoid further harm to his person. Then seeing a majestic beast out in the distance, he knows that he's done this all before… With a heavy sigh, he leaps and rolls out of the way of various incoming charges, until he's eventually crawling on his hands and feet to reach the steed (and avoiding the marshall's in the process). "Woah, boy." He calls out, before he draws himself up into the saddle, his hand once more reaching for his sword which is held high. "Guess who is back!" He cries out and while no one of import really pays attention, for /whatever reason/ the knights who had followed him before remain at his side. These must be the ones who were just knighted or something, but yes, Brynmor leads his charge once more!

There is no mention of renewed vigor or any such rubbish, instead, it's the adrenaline that carries him and the knowledge that once this is all finally over, he'll get that precious sleep that he deserves! So when he comes across yet another young knight, he brings his sword down hard on him, "Just. Fall. Down." He cries out, "Then we can all go home!" His strike hits justly, bypassing his opponent's sword altogether, but it is not enough to oust the young knight! "Why?!"

Horses skitter, knights tumple. The earth now a soft layer of tilled soiled from divets made by the hooves of horses. The man that mingles with Sir Quillian finds him equally unwilling to find how much that ground now cushions. More remarkable in this knights unwillingness to budge.

Success
Seraphina checked her sword of 15, she rolled 6.

Steel rings as he and his oppoent whack at one another. Quill's blade turned away, buy he does catch the man's attention sufficently. Quill takes the blow at his shoulder, however instead of rolling off, the knight's shift is a pure feat of horsemanship. "But a damned tickle me lad." the blackfish boasts as he does his aerobatics in the saddle. "Again!" cry hey and what ho!

Sir Rozenn joins again with Duke Pellivere, trying to turn the tides of that large group. No give on either side between the enemies of Glouchester and Clarance. She finds a knot to hopefully take pressure off the main body of the Duke. Driving into the side and pushing into that mix. A solid blow by her sends the sword of her opponent toppling as he is further hit by her sword. He is left to try and rearm himself.

The knight opposed to Sir Acwel does his best, but the other shows the better training of Salisbury perhaps that the other tries to deflect with shield and still, the force bears too much upon him and he topples from the saddle leaving Sir Acwel the victory.

This time, the Young Knight won't stand a chance at hitting Acwel again. The Woodford knight nods once to Quillian as he backs him up, tapping a salute to the man before he wheels around, bringing his sword to bear down on the opponent engaged with him. It's enough to unbalance the fresh-faced knight and topple him over his mount, and he rides away to rejoin his formation.

Seems the young knight made a mistake by hitting the six foot Idmiston. Bradwyn smash, as the arm swings and whips around to the other side of Brad's body and the young knight finds themself staring up at the sky.

In the mix of the surge for victory by Count Ioan, Sir Bradwyn like other knights in the group is inspired to complete Duke Randall and his Knights of Cheshire. A mightly blow is struck upon the knight and no shield or horsemanship is going to save him. Its enough his shield was up or that would of left a mark. Instead he is left with the bruises from the fall to the ground.

The unfolding exchange of swords continues between the Young Cheshire Knight and Sir Brynmor. The boy seems to be thankful to still be up, a slight widening of his eyes as he contiues to trade blow for blow with the Salisbury Knight. A solid blow launched at him leaves him a moment notice to steady his feet to avoid being thrown unceremoniously to the ground.

Catryn holds to her horse, meaning to be done with the knight before her. A solid blow is struck, upon his shield, and yet his sword does the same. A crash comes from the two as their personal battle grows with want to end the other and work to help their team towards victory.

Success
Quillian checked his Sword of 15, he rolled 13.

Fueled by his desire to just get this over with, Brynmor clashes swords with the young knight again and again and with each failure to dismount the young fellow, he returns even more quickly to try and finish the deed. With his recent attempt proving even more futile than his last, he seethes out a sigh, before muttering, "Why won't you cooperate! What must I do to make you see that it's just easier to lean over to the side and fall over!" Maneuvering his handsome steed back again to reposition himself for another such clashing, the just as handsome Brynmor charges forth once more, his annoyance rising.

The knight that finds Quillian and is exchaning blows with him thinks he has had enough. "Meet steel friend, and be done with this contest." Despite landing a fine blow, the knight topples to the ground after the other knight, as battle weary as he, manages to finally loose Quill from his mount. The silly rouncey taking off, leaving Quill to be nabbed by the marshalls.

After rolling through a side gathering of knights, Earl Robert's group face slightly more of a challenge coming into the fray between Duke Randall and Count Ioan. As knights turn to face his group at least, it pulls away some focus from Count Ioan's group and though some may fall, it is helping the Count's knights. The one facing Seraphina exchanges swords, thrusting more than swigning as he goes to unsteady the other knight for a quick dismount rather than knocking by brute force alone.

Bryce de Baverstock was riding with Earl Robert's team, and naturally now among those that come to Count Ioain's aid, the steed he rides is still that same dapple grey charger he mounted in round…3 of the melee? By now the horse has gotten used to its rider, and Bryce is indeed a much leighter burden than some others, being more lanky and short than big. Dark eyes scan the lines as he rides forth to meet one of the knights of the Cheshire team, to bring him down!

As Sir Bryce meets his foe, the other is ready for him. Less about some advantage in the swing and more about simply topping the other. Sword and shield may be used to affect as the thrusts upon the other knight. More keen to be done than duel honorable on the field, just one knight in a unit and needing to make good on their side of the battle.

Bryce's sword does not connect, as he swings it with all strength that is left in him, pain throbbing in various limbs from the three falls he has taken. Alas, he is going to add a fourth fall to his list for this Grand Melee. A Cheshire blade hits him in an odd angle, and the Baverstock is driven out of the saddle. Another clatter of maille as he hits the ground and gets to his feet, much slower this time. Even so… he manages somewhat.

The return with the knights against Duke Randall by Sir Rozenn seems to pay off as she meets with the leader of a similar group rejoined. Her knights press in and she leads the way by meeting her knight and deflty sending a flurry of blows at the man until he is dethroned from the throne upon his horse, perhaps inspiring those who have followed her.

Success
You make a check for Young Knight vs. Brynmor at 15, you rolled 6.

The unit gathered by Rozenn de Burcombe is folded into another; against the largest remaining 'army' of the opponents. It's becoming a mess with people falling left and right. More than the marshalls can truly keep up with, but oh… they try. There is, however, no need with the pagan Knight. She clashes with one of the unit leaders on the opposing side. Her first hit is solid- not enough to dehorse the man, but enough that he loses grip on his sword. Pressing the advantage (and showing how, tsk tsk, bad form it is to lose your sword like that in battle), she goes in again. This time, the blow is enough to handily dehorse the man and Rozenn lets out a sort of whooping cry of victory before pressing further into the fray. May it be enough to fully turn the tides in their favor!

The fight is over. At least for Bryce de Baverstock. He is spotted by a Marshall and sent to the sidelines, to be counted as casualty in the results. There is a slight limp in his gait as he walks, and a grimace when Bryce lowers himself onto a stool; slowly; carefully; like an old man.

Success
Catryn checked her sword of 15, she rolled 10.

The fight with Brynmor to further the cause of Count Ioan continues and he does his best to deal with the knight against him. Steel clangs against steel once more and Brynmor's efforts do nothing to give him an upperhand in any of this. There's a lot of push between these two heated opponents with both gaining and oft times losing the advantage and yet being unable to unhorse the other. "Are you really expecting your team to win?" He spits out, his voice full of aggravated tension! And perhaps it's his constantly jabbering that does make him fail to raise his shield in time and to take the brunt of the other's strike. His own hands tightening on the reigns, he mutters, "You just wait…" Wait for what, who knows!

Seriol continues to ride with the forces of Count Ioan as he has since the start of the battle. It has been a difficult time for the group, an initial clever maneuver led to them being trapped and then mercifully chewed apart by the determined forces of Duke Randall. Still, despite the Duke's best efforts their core has held strong and now that Earl Robert has led his forces into hitting the Duke from another side suddenly those much pressed forces have a chance to press the attack. Seriol seems more than ready, a sword arm that a short time ago seemed barely capable of pressing an attack is newly energized. So it is that knight of Bishopstone closes upon a Chesire knight and quickly presses the attack.

Sir Locki squares against Sir Seriol, the immobal it would seem. There is a moment of shock on his eyes, this guy, of all the knights on the entire field, again. "I'll not fall so readily Goliath!" He announces, the quiver in his voice noticeable of course, but the man does his best to exchange swings with the large land mass that rides (cause not Harrenhal). A solid blow and still, the girth of the other keeps him firmly seated on his poor horse, perhaps now straining from the exertion of carrying him around this battle.

This isn't even his Average arch nemesis and Brynmor is already thinking of adding him to his 'list', which is a fairly harmless list, otherwise it would take far too much effort to do anything about anyone on it. So he has made a list of annoyances: People who have woken him up from some nap or other, smelly people and then there are these folks, knights who for whatever reason just keep coming back, when it would make things all the more easy if they just dropped! From behind the slits of his helmet, the Steeple Langford's eyes narrow, his attacks becoming all the more ineffective due to that rising agitation! So rather than having gripes of his opponent still being mounted after so many hits, he is trying to remain mounted himself.

The knight facing Sir Catryn wants to be done with this fight, his face full of mud from the sweat pouring out of him and the dust kicked up form the horses. His left eye squints a little to keep the salt out of it. Yet despite that hinderance, his sword arm seems to know where his opponent is and he strikes true, but again she remains firmly in her saddle.

Seriol seems equally surprised to see Sir Locki and he grumbles, "You did not fall all that easily last time Sir, I assure you. I quite felt the Anvil so pummeled by your sword was I. You will forgive me, I hope, for hoping that this encounter ends in a similar fashion to the last." Leaving one young knight in the dust, Glaw is soon rejoining Robert's formation. Only to once more face off with another younger variant of the opposing team. Well, there is nothing for it, now, the battle is drawing to a close, the muscles and horses weary and more lucrative and glorious targets not in sight! "Now this is getting ridiculous." Brynmor complains, never having lasted this long in a melee, personal combat or anything in his entire life. That's because usually he's out early on! So when he comes to blows again with his nobody opponent, the Steeple Langford, in all of his irritation, strikes out at the other in blind fury and while his only attack clangs against the young knight's shield, the kid's sword reels back, issuing the courageous (and sleepy) not a hard blow, finally unhorsing him! "Oof!" He whines, falling on his side. "I think… I think now's a good time to quit while I'm ahead…" Is all he can muster so optimistically.

As the sword aims at him, the freshly minted knight of Chesire looks over at Glaw and at least turns his steed in time to meet with the other. Managing to secure a shield in place at least to the sword as divvied out by Glaw, the man can do little else but to succumb to the onslaught by the knight of Salisbury. It does't take long to teeter than topple his opponent and the young mans moves to meet the earth.

The engagement is swift, and by now none of the two: Neither Glaw nor his not quite known opponent have much finesse left after the gruelling two and a half hours of riding and hacking at each other, even with the intermissions between. When his opponent teeters, tries to regain his equilibrium, Glaw is having enough of this. While the last one might have gotten a pass for dropping his sword and he let him recover it, this one is given an almost gentle shove with his shield to seal his fate. Ahem. "Good luck next time!", he wishes the fallen foe, before he rides on.

Seriol just continues to takes hit after hit, it really is looking a lot like the repeat of the last fight. Still his shield at least is usually in position this time absorbing the worst of on the onslaught. "Sir.. while I respect your dedication… to reenacting our last fight.." he pants out, "You know how that ends.". Last time Seriol got a blow in around this time, and he tries the same maneuver this time in an effort to force Sir Locki from his saddle.

The war wages between Sir Seriol and his opponent. It would seem each swings with just enough to hit, not over reaching or showy, and while enough is given to topple the other, they stay mounted. Or more, the large man of Salisbury continues to show he is in no hurry to be removed from his mount. His opponent make little effort it seems to make good and taken the other out of the saddle.

Seeming to want to win, the knight left to face Sir Cyndeyrn is a veteran, perhaps an officer at least to some keep somewhere, if not a count, duke or king even. He is capable, but then again, the arm of Cyndeyrn is a thing to fear itself. A solid blow upon the man leaves him no chance at all to find his horse as he is thrown from it amongst the scrabble on the ground. Numbers thining, it leaves one to be captured or marshalled off the field.

Not so long ago Seriol was a juggernaut frustrating the best efforts of this same knight who would see Count Ioan's forces fall. Now the positions are very much reversed and with all the advantage in the world the large knight of Bishopstone just can't down the other night. Of course, with things properly reversed it would be the other knight being drubbed senseless by a sword. Battle is cruel.

The tides seem to shift on the battle field, as knights of Cambria seem to start to fall, its a trickle affect amongs the current clusters of knights on the field. Sir Seriols seems to follow suit on the trend even, giving a solid blow to his opponent that removes the horse from under him. It was a battle of wills and honor. Catryn was in it to remain on her horse and it didn't seem to be in her favor. Hit after hit, her opponent strikes against her with herself getting measly little hits in. It's a long, long, long battle back and forth, so many close calls. Finally, the other knight has an incredibly good swing and strikes her down and she falls, faceplants, in the churned up ground.

Catryn rolls 1d6 and gets (5) for a total of: (5)

The battle between Catryn and foe continues on that even a few turn and watch as hit after hit is striken and to no gain. It is finally over, the others can carry on, squrie will be on hand to see to Catryn until the end of the melee itself. Which seems to be drawing closer …

Having ridden through two prior opponents in short order, indeed swiping each from their saddles with a single blow before meeting the next, Cyndeyrn hardly slows to meet the final opponent in his line of enemies. The field has opened up around them, the unnerving chaos of their near-collapse loosened as Robert's arrival forces some of their surrounding foes to turn around and face the new attackers. In this clearer ground, he takes the opportunity to spur his stolen horse to greater speed, intending to cast down this last foe as quickly as the others. And yet as their blades cross in that decisive instant, it is with a resounding clang and… no further result. Or rather, it sees the other knight immediately return a counterstroke of his own, which Cyndeyrn barely lifts his shield to deflect, feeling the hit shake him in his own saddle. It seems as if he has underestimated the last man, who proves a skillful knight!

But there is no time for calculation, concern, or regret here. Taking whatever is left of the prior surge to give him strength, and using whatever hesistation his foe might have at the arrival of the reinforcements who may soon disrupt his little match, Cyndeyrn lifts his blade high, using the one advantage he has over the more seasoned knight, his reach and brute power. The blow is a telling one as it falls, and while it meets a shield, the painted wooden bulwark earns a neat crack down its middle as the Dinton's blade lands, and the huge force of the blow throws him downward from his steed. Victorious, Cyndeyrn turns to survey the area around him, ascertaining the fate of his taem and the Logres side as a whole.

The battle between Duke Pellivere and Duke Morvid has become the biggest engagement. The early entanglement between the other four teams has quickly reduced their numbers, as much as the hatred seems to have driven the knights of Glouchester and Clarence. Even as Pellivere keeps his group emboirled with his neighbor and rival, a group has come to join with the knights of Clarence, more some of the Salisbury knights have rallied and made cause for their original team.
Where the dust was more near the center, it is now rising from this engagement. Knights about, making it difficult to disengage even after finding amount. At least the honor is there in waiting for an opponent to find a mount before trying to push them off again. Thus it is for Sir Bartimaeus, a knight comes to him, ready to make battle.

Bartimaeus hauls himself painfully up from the ground, taking a few staggering steps as the world spins around him. His sword drags behind him from a leather cord on his belt, and he seems confused as to where he is. But, as a plunging grey charger looms out of the chaos, he reacts by instinct alone. Reaching up with his empty right hand he snags a firm grip of the animal's mane and throws himself ungracefully up into the saddle. Swaying a bit, he grips the cord hanging from his belt and draws his sword back up into his hand.
Remounted and rearm, but still a bit unsteady from the earlier strike to his head, Bartimaeus de Bishopstone turns and real's as a knight in dusty chain mail comes thundering out of the crowd at him, sword high. He brings his shield up in an instinctive attempt to block, his own blade swinging a bit wildly through the air. The priest isn't entirely sure where he is right now, but his body remembers how to fight.

Even if he was wobbly on his return, the young knight in the mix of the engagement himself isn't so sure of making heads or tails of which way to go and who to swipe at. At least he's the sense enough to aim for one of the knights not from Glouchester. Both swords seem to mirror each other, a clatter against shields as both knights work on getting their bearing. He is too green to taunt, or shout to give himself false bravado even. Instead he focus on returning the swords while doing his best to avoid that of his current enemy.

Somehow the priest manages to stay upright and fighting rather than vomiting into his helmet and falling immediately off his horse, though there is no telling how long he can keep it up. Swaying a bit in the saddle he aims a heavy overhead chop at his opponent, blade whistling through the air.

The sparks abound, the young knight isn't so sure of this. He can't even seem to get his shield in place to deflect the sword as blows continue from Sir Bartimaeus. Further still, his sword isn't seeming to make contact with the knight from Salisbury. Rather than fight to topple theother, its a fight to stay mounted and like many this day, he finds the ground again, taking the bruises from the removal from his saddle as more stories to tell come winter.

Sitting his saddle unsteadily, Bartimaeus aims a final swing that cleaves the empty air where his opponent once sat, then tightens his knees to avoid toppling over. Sword hanging limp from his hand, the Bishopstone knight gives his horse its head and allows it to walk through the battle, unsure of where he is or should be going.

Scanning the grand melee field, he is apparently looking for a worthy opponent, someone extraordinary or even to see if can locate Duke Morvid of Glouchester. However, being full of himself, he doesn't see a young knight riding at him until it is too late.

Searching the field as the battle charges towards its final stages, Aluksander is fairly exhausted. He's been knocked off his horse twice, been engaged in incredible struggles with veteran knights twice. And now, all he wants is to finish the battle, on his horse, against an opponent that isn't going to take him all day to defeat.
Spotting a knight that seems to be more confused than most, Aluksander smiles to himself. His prey has been located. Pointing his sword, he announces his challenge and rides towards the young knight, sword held aloft. The other knight blinks, looks around, and then realizes that it is HIM that Aluksander is targeting. And so, at the last minute, he moves out of the way of Aluksander's sword and sticks his own out in self-defense.
Unfortunately for Aluksander, he under-estimated his opponent and his own fatigue, and the young knight's last minute dodge catches him off guard. The blow isn't hard at all, just barely getting past Aluksander's shield. But, it proves to be enough to unbalance him. And, finally, Aluksander falls off his horse and crashes to the ground /hard/. Where he lays. And contemplates the universe. … or maybe he sleeps, it's hard to tell since he doesn't even try to move.

Rowan's horse-hijacking is proving to be fruitful. After checking to make sure his previous opponent was indeed still breathing, he jerks his new charger around to engage the next knight coming at him. They clash, and the first exchange seems to favor Rowan's blade, as it strikes the other man's armored chest. His opponent remains in his seat, unfortunately, and regains the upperhand when they charge at each other a second time. A third, and final, pass ends with Rowan knocking the young man off his steed. The victory was not quite as spectacular as his last, but it would do.

The Wylye wheels around to survey the chaos still around him. Were they winning? Losing? He couldn't quite tell yet…
