Catryn succeeds in finding and mounting a charger

The beginning and Catryn is on the side with her lance in hand. She's not that talented with a lance, not at all. Worse? She knows she's not. It's shaken her confidence, the doubting of her own skill. When the time comes, she rushes forward on her horse, riding hard into the fray only to be met with a lance of her opponent which catches her as effectively as the one in the joust had, successfully knocking her from the horse.

Knowing the importance of finding a horse before the judges could see her afoot, Cat looks around, a palfrey! She hurries towards it only to be beaten by another knight who gives a cocky tilt of his head and rides off to do more battle. Right before her, there's another knight who falls to the ground leaving his charger without a rider. Launching herself towards it, she climbs atop and draws her sword, turning to face her enemy again. Finding him, she swings her blade.

And a battle of blades ensues. Catryn is atop her charger fighting it out with a younger knight and she swings her blade only to have it too wide and it misses the other knight. Completely. He doesn't even get a breeze off the blade. He does manage to hit her though and bring her almost falling off her horse. When she manages to get control of herself she continues the fight.

Gideon is not a horseman, and finds tournaments to be at best to be frippery and at worst a waste of perfectly good fighting men. Still, since the earl asked, the head of the double addered house ascends to his horse and begins the charge. Lowering his lance…the predictable happens. The jostling of the temperamnetal and ill mannered beast causes the point to go wide, which allows the knight of some renown to smash his lance into his shoulder. At least the beast has the decency to not throw him. He snarls down at the horse, his eyes baleful. "Don't even think about it." He's wise to the four legged beast, even as his helm turns to focus on his adversary.

The grand melee. Finally an opportunity to show his worth, prove his mettle and perhaps impress Arthur enough to earn a spot amongst his soldiers. Aluksander is anxious, in his saddle, steed ready and willing for the charge. He's fully decked out in Pitton livery, green and orange draped on his horse, though there is an odd, clashing set of colors in his hair. The long blonde locks are braided down his back, ribbons of red and black tied into his hair, to match the red and black Woodford kerchief tied about his neck. Someone's showing him favor, if not the gods of combat (and dice!)

When the horn is sounded, Aluksander spurs his mount into action, lance at the ready as he rushes forward into combat. He locks eyes on a Young Knight from the opposing side and they angle towards one another. Unfortunately for Aluksander, he's a much bigger target and so suffers a much greater blow from his opponent than he was able to mete out. Fortunately for Aluksander, he's a much bigger target and manages to shrug off the blow without losing his balance on his horse. And now, it's time for BATTLE!

With her sword managing to at least strike this time, Catryn pushes forward, trying to take advantage of it. The other knight proves too good at remaining in his saddle and also good with his sword as he counters her attack. Able to lift her shield in time, it takes most of the brunt of the hit.. and the battle rages on.

It seems to be an even match between the Burcombe and the other knight. Catryn swings her blade, once more making contact, but just as her opponent does and the sword fight continues, blocks, hits, misses.. both remaining on their horse and fighting on.

Aluksander checked his sword of 15, he rolled 10.

This is a tie. Nothing happens

Having passed the young knight successfully, Aluksander turns and looks for a target. And that's when he spots the commander of the enemy forces. Well, never one to shy away from a challenge, Aluksander spurs his mount into action and he rushes towards the man, discarding the broken lance as he draws his sword. "For Logres!" he shouts, and then the two clash swords, neither gaining an advantage.

Gideon's Opponent is down and this ends his Round 1

Gideon is able to maintain control of the horse, and while he loses sight of him he does come into contact with another knight of similar experience and hopefully less momentum. Instead of the sword he reaches for a hunting spear, which is probably a source of confusion for the opposing team member. His eyes narrow and he tries to slow his breathing, for with the slightly more controllable 'combat trot' he is able to put a spear into the other knights side, not harming the lad but with sufficient momentum to dislodge the other knight from his horse. He then steadies himself and prepares for the next round.

Catryn is Unhorsed

It's over before Catryn is ready for it to be over. Taking a hit from the knight, he bests her in what looks like a simply swing of his weapon. It finds her unready and off balance and she tumbles off of the horse onto the ground below. The horse is quickly taken by another knight who goes back into the battle, leaving Catryn scrambling to get out of the way of the pounding hooves of the horses.

On the second circle of clashing steel, Aluksander's attack is wide and he leaves himself exposed. This allows the enemy commander to hit him squarely, causing him to wince and shift in his seat. His steed, however, is trusty and moves to compensate for the blow, allowing the knight to stay seated. Aluk makes a mental note to buy extra sugar cubes at his earliest opportunity, but then returns his focus to the task at hand: NOT SUCKING.

Critical Success!

Madoc makes a check for Commanders theoretically horsemanship at 18, he rolled 11.

Having regained his balance, Aluksander turns his horse and with surprising skill, manages to sneak his blade in past the commanders defenses! The blow is a thing of beauty, truly. Unfortunately, much like the beauty that is Aluksander's face, it goes largely to waste as he doesn't put enough OOMPH behind the blow to unseat the commander. So, while he may not be winning, at least he looks rather remarkable for mediocre.

Madoc rolls 5d6 and gets (1 1 5 2 1) for a total of: (10)

Still holding his own, Aluksander continues fighting the enemy commander, locked in combat. This time, it is his turn to leave himself open for a masterful blow from the commander. Thankfully, the enemy returns the favor and barely puts any shutzpah into the attack, allowing Aluksander to simply absorb it by simply being big. EVENTUALLY, somebody's gonna wear themselves out and fall down! Unfortunately, Aluksander is the more likely of the two.

Critical Success!
Aluksander checked his horsemanship of 10, he rolled 10.

Another clash of steel, and this time Aluksander's anticipation steers him wrong. He swings wide, opening himself up again, his inexperience showing through as the commander manages to get another hit against him. He stays upright, however, and probably does some sort of fancy pirouette with his horse to maintain his balance. Not finished yet, Aluksander readies himself to continue the fight!

Failed.

Unfortunately, all of Aluksander's fancy horsemanship puts him out of position for his next attack, his sword clearly missing the enemy commander. The riposte, on the other hand, hits home, again battering Aluksander in his saddle. While the young knight is clearly outmatched in skill, his grit and determination are carrying him through.

This battle is clearly getting out of hand, as Aluksander CONTINUES to take abuse. The two fight, swords clashing, shields bashing, horses stamping, as they circle each other, locked in combat. Aluksander is hit and hit again, manages to return the favor, and then, finally, perhaps even mercifully, the commander drops a blow that finally sends Aluksander to the ground. He hits the dirt with a loud /smack/, arms splayed out, thoroughly winded. He stays still for several seconds, just staring at the sky and trying to force air into his lungs. He's sore, exhausted, and desperately in need of a horse. But, for a moment, he's just going to lay here and contemplate his existence.
